Title: Silego Technology introduces tiny 1.5x2 mm Single 4A Channel GreenFET3TM Load Switches
Silego’s GreenFET3 full-featured Load Switches achieve a new record in package size and Rds(on) (down to 1.5x2mm FC-TDFN and 7.8 mΩ Rds(on).

Santa Clara, CA – April 18, 2012 - Silego Technology Inc. announces a family of GreenFET3 “GFET3” Single Channel MOSFET load switches rated up to 4A. Devices in the family have on-resistance specified down to 7.8 mΩ. The SLG59M301 and SLG59M308 are used for switching 1 to 5V power rails and take much less place than similar solutions based on discrete components.

The GFET3 integrated MOSFET process allows Silego to place a class leading set of functions in FC-TDFN plastic packages for load switching applications. Silego’s GFET3 products save up to 90% of PCB area while providing better performance, when compare to a solution based on discrete components. The reliability improvement and component reduction inherent in this highly integrated family are added benefits.

The SLG59M301/8 has a wide range of applications, especially at routers, switches, industrial equipment, set-top boxes, tablets, notebooks, GPS, smart phones and anywhere there is a need to soft switch a power rail between 1 to 5V with a max current rating below 4A.

”This family of devices provides the best of all possible options for the designer needing to switch supply voltage rails between 1-5V”, said John McDonald, Vice President of Marketing at Silego Technology Inc. John continued, “The package is tiny (3 mm2), the on-resistance is world class (7.8 mΩ), and the power consumption is negligible (<1µA standby current, <100µA active current). While these features can help any designer, this is especially valuable in load switching for space and power constrained applications.”

GFET3 load switches are full featured. The CMOS level “on” pin makes GFET3 products very easy in use. There is no need to use level shifters to turn on the load switch, just directly connect GFET3 to any device supporting CMOS logic levels. Furthermore, an external ramp adjust capacitor allows the designer to easily change the turn-on time and ramp rate within a wide range. Once the part is on, the over-current limit and automatic thermal shutdown circuits provide extra levels of protection against damage. These additional benefits are rarely implemented in discrete solutions. There are devices in the family that provide an automatic power rail discharge option at power off.

The SLG59M301/8 load switches consume <1µA when not actively switching. Active current consumption is less than 100µA. These energy saving features and low Rds(ON) allow Energy Star requirements to be more easily met.

About Silego

Silego designs and sells highly configurable power, logic, and timing mixed signal IC products referred to as CMICs (Configurable Mixed-signal IC Products). The CMIC products integrate medium precision analog components, discrete digital logic, and passive components into highly configurable small, easy to use, low cost ICs. CMIC products provide customers the benefits of reduced system parts count, lower power consumption, less board space and reduced BOM costs. Silego was recognized in 2008 as a Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Rising Star and in 2011 as one of the Deloitte Technology Fast 500.
