Dual Supply GreenPAK™

The family of Dual Supply GreenPAK™ are highly versatile NVM Programmable Mixed-signal Matrix devices, designed to flexibly interface two independent voltage domains using the programmable logic, timing, and analog components available on all GreenPAK family devices.

These members of the GPAK family can easily add level translation capability to the set of functions implemented on an individual design. There is flexibility for doing level translation from either the higher voltage domain to the lower voltage domain, or the other direction also.

Developing Dual Supply GreenPAK projects is made simple with the easy-to-use GreenPAK development hardware and simple GUI interface of GreenPAK Designer, allowing our customers to quickly and easily implement new designs and respond to changing requirements.

The simplest use case for this family of devices is makes a direct connection to transmit signals across two voltage domains. In figure 1 below, the I/O pins which connect to the primary supply voltage (Vdd) are highlighted in blue, and the I/O pins connected to the lower voltage supply (Vdd2) are highlighted in gold. Making a direct wire connection, as is shown here, will allow a signal to pass from Pin 16 on the Vdd2 domain to Pin 3 on the Vdd domain.

Dual Supply

It is also possible to enable signals to selectively pass one direction or the other, under control of another signal. An example of this is shown in Fig 2 below, where a signal can either originate in Pin 3 or Pin 16, with the direct selected based on the state of Pin 4. In this case, both Pin 16 and Pin 3 are set up to support bi-directional communication, and either the output driver of one or the other is turned on with the OE input on each one.
